Woolf Shed at Chelsea Flower Show

To mark the 90th anniversary of the first publication of Woolf’s A Room of One’s Own, Malvern Garden Buildings have created for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show a writing retreat inspired by Woolf’s writing lodge at Monk’s House, Rodmell. It was created with the help of the VWSGB and Monk’s House (National Trust), and was unveiled by Woolf’s great-niece, Cressida Bell, on Press Day, Monday 20 May.

There’s even a blue plaque commemorating the occasion (see top right of the shed). It says:

Virginia
Woolf
1882–1941
Novelist and Critic
wrote in a shed
just like this

[And round the rim]
In the 90th year since the publication of * A Room of One’s Own *
